Individual PhD Committee (CSI)
The decree of 26 August 2022 relating to doctoral studies stipulates that doctoral schools must set up an individual monitoring committee (CSI) to ensure that each doctoral student’s course of study runs smoothly. This must be done within six months of the student’s initial enrolment in the doctoral programme. The CSI must meet before enrolment in the second year and then before each new enrolment until the end of the doctoral programme.
The CSI of the ED MIIS is an individual support mechanism, which should not involve a significant workload for the doctoral student and their supervisor. With this in mind, the CSI is organised in the form of regular interviews with the doctoral student at least once a year. The purpose of these interviews is to assess and monitor the conditions of the student’s training and the progress of their research, to discuss the continuation of their thesis and the preparation of their career, and to prevent any form of conflict, discrimination or harassment. The doctoral student may request additional meetings if necessary.
At the end of each meeting, the CSI formulates comments and recommendations that are forwarded to the ED Office, the doctoral student, the thesis supervisor and the management of the doctoral student’s host laboratory.
If the CSI raises a significant issue, the ED MIIS office may appoint one of its members, or a third party, to monitor the remainder of the thesis more closely, in consultation with the CSI.
The members of the CSI and the ED MIIS office undertake to respect the confidentiality of the information obtained during interviews. A confidentiality agreement may be signed upon reasoned request by the doctoral student, their thesis supervisor, or the company associated with the preparation of a CIFRE thesis.
The CSI may be consulted at the request of the doctoral student, the thesis supervisor, the laboratory director, or one of the members of the ED office.
L’arrêté du 26 août 2022 relatif au doctorat disopose que les ED doivent mettre en place un comité de suivi individuel (CSI) qui veille au bon déroulement du cursus de chaque doctorant. Cette mise en place doit se faire dans les six mois suivant la première inscription en thèse. Le CSI se réunit obligatoirement avant l’inscription en deuxième année et ensuite avant chaque nouvelle inscription jusqu’à la fin du doctorat.
Le CSI de l’ED MIIS est un dispositif d’accompagnement individuel, qui ne doit pas impliquer pour le doctorant et sa direction une charge de travail importante. Dans cette optique, le CSI est organisé sous forme d’entretiens réguliers une fois par an au minimum avec le doctorant. Ces entretiens qui ont pour finalité de mesurer et de suivre les conditions de sa formation et les avancées de sa recherche, d’échanger sur la poursuite de sa thèse, la préparation de sa carrière et de prévenir toute forme de conflit, de discrimination ou de harcèlement. Le doctorant peut demander des entretiens supplémentaires si besoin est.
À l’issue de chaque entretien, le CSI formule des commentaires et recommandations transmis au Bureau de l’ED, au doctorant, à la direction de la thèse et à la direction du laboratoire d’accueil du doctorant.
Si le CSI soulève un problème important, le bureau de l’ED MIIS pourra mandater l’un de ses membres, ou un tiers, pour suivre plus particulièrement le reste de la thèse, en concertation avec le CSI.
Les membres des CSI et le bureau de l’ED MIIS s’engagent à respecter la confidentialité des informations issues des entretiens. Un engagement de confidentialité pourra être signé sur demande argumentée du doctorant, de sa direction de thèse, ou de l’entreprise associée à la préparation d’une thèse CIFRE.
Le CSI pourra être saisi sur demande du doctorant, de la direction de thèse, la direction du laboratoire ou de l’un des membres du bureau de l’ED.
